Centre researchers listed among the world's most influential scientists

Six researchers associated with the Stockholm Resilience Centre are highlighted in the exclusive 2022 Clarivate Analytics overview of the world's most cited researchers. Centre co-founders Carl Folke and Johan Rockström together with Per Olsson, Thomas Elmqvist, Max Troell and Jonathan Donges made it onto this year’s list with their publications.

These highly cited papers rank in the top 1% by citations for a field or fields and publication year in the scientific database Web of Science.

“Highly Cited Researchers have demonstrated significant and broad influence reflected in their publication of multiple highly cited papers over the last decade”, writes Clarivate, the analytics company behind the list, in a statement.

Centre researchers have consistently been represented on the list over the past years. Carl Folke has been among the world’s most highly cited since the start of the list in 2014 and remains one of the world's most cited researchers across any discipline.

The analysis behind the ranking is based on publications and citations in scientific journals over a period of eleven years (January 2011 to December 2021). As a basis, Clarivate has used the Web of Science database and started from 21 different scientific fields and had a category for interdisciplinary.

Stefano Manzoni from the Department of Physical Geography was the sixth researcher from Stockholm University to be included on the list.
