Max Troell is a system ecologist mainly working with environmental problems associated with aquaculture
Max Troell is Program Director of the Sustainable Seafood Program at The Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics and Senior Researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University.
Troell is an ecologist focused on sustainability in the global food system, with experience across fisheries, aquaculture, and marine ecosystems worldwide. His research spans environmental, nutritional, and equity aspects of sustainable food systems, with a transdisciplinary approach linking natural systems, biodiversity, and resilience.
He is involved in EAT-Lancet and the Blue Food Assessment. Contributions include pioneering integrated aquaculture techniques and advising on the FAO's "Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture" (EAA).
Troells recent work addresses climate change impacts on aquatic food and antibiotic resistance in production systems, and he is involved in science-industry collaborations for food system transformation (SeaBOS).
