Anna-Karin Quetel is programme coordinator for PLATE – a research centre dedicated to developing resilient, appealing meals, that promote health, sustainability, and improved contingency planning.

Quetel coordinates partners and researchers within PLATE research centre for resilient meals. PLATE investigates the role of the food service sector as a catalyst for improving the Swedish food system’s overall short-term preparedness, long-term resilience and competitiveness, and sustainability. The food service actors include all stakeholders involved in preparing, serving, and selling meals - such as wholesalers, regulatory authorities, and recipe providers - spanning both public actors, like schools and hospitals, and private ones. The definition also includes food system actors involved in producing food and consuming meals.

She holds a master's degree in nutrition from Karolinska Institutet. Quetel has many years of experience working at a government agency, and until 2025, she served as a sustainability strategist and innovation leader at the Swedish National Food Agency. With a placement in the Director-General's staff, Quetel supported the agency management and employees in developing the organisationin line with the sustainable development goals. She also coordinated a collaborative initiative within the Swedish Environmental Objectives Council, where eight agencies work in a mission-oriented way to strengthen cooperation for a sustainable food system.

In her role, she has worked strategically with scientific data and monitoring to drive different types of policy development. Quetel has coordinated research and innovation efforts at the agency and facilitated dialogue and knowledge exchange between researchers and authorities. She also has many years of experience from working with the development of meals in healthcare, schools, and social care.
