Through Stockholm Resilience Foundation, Stockholm Resilience Centre collaborates with companies that are committed to learning and leading towards sustainability. Our collaborations provide science-based insights and long-term engagement to support the transition towards resilient and sustainable business practices within the planetary boundaries.

Stockholm Resilience Foundation offers a limited number of long-term strategic partnerships with companies that value Stockholm Resilience Centre’s research and pursue a clear strategic agenda to conduct their business more sustainably. Through the Corporate Partnerships, we share the latest scientific findings with our partners via dialogue, joint learning opportunities, and network meetings. Our aim is to foster long-term collaborations built on trust, transparency, shared values, and continuity.

The companies in these partnerships provide an annual donation to Stockholm Resilience Foundation in support of the independent research at Stockholm Resilience Centre. Importantly, companies have no influence over how the funds are allocated by the Foundation or over the research agenda itself. In addition, the companies pay a smaller fee directly to SRC to finance the mechanics of the collaboration, such as the network meetings.

The Centre's Deputy Director, Lisen Schultz, says: "Working towards a resilient and sustainable future requires science-based collaboration across sectors. Stockholm Resilience Foundation acts as a mechanism to secure and strengthen independent research at Stockholm Resilience Centre, allowing the centre to continue to provide and support activation of and engagement around the scientific knowledge needed for driving transformation. The collaborations also offer opportunities for mutual learning and new discoveries, between academia and business, and across industries."

About Stockholm Resilience Foundation

Stockholm Resilience Foundation was founded in 2023 by Carl Folke. Stockholm Resilience Foundation has the sole purpose of securing long-term, strategic flexible financing to support Stockholm Resilience Centre’s core mission to advance science for a liveable planet.

“I know how important such long-term funding is to create breathing space for exploration and experimentation. Some of our most impactful research emerged out of that breathing space, like the Planetary Boundaries and our world-leading research on ocean stewardship and food system transformation,” says Carl Folke, Centre co-founder.
