Bolund is a PhD candidate, researching the vital role of nature in urban areas and how it provides essential ecosystem services, such as reducing air pollution and noise, regulating microclimate, providing cooling and shading, and enhancing psychological well-being. His work also focuses on the challenges cities will face due to climate-driven extreme weather events and how nature-based solutions can help build urban resilience.
He holds a master's degree in biology from Stockholm University and Stirling University in Scotland.

Before that, he was Minister for Finacial Markets, Deputy Finance Minister, and Minister of Housing and Consumer affairs.
