International communications expert from Sweden, with 15 years of experience from work in civil society, journalism and business across the world

As head of communications, Lundstedt leads a team of experts and project managers to communicate the centre´s research to target groups across the globe. Lundstedt is a member of the management team. The communications department serves all areas of Stockholm Resilience Centre with outreach, trainings, visualization and strategic advice.

Lundstedt joined the centre as head of communications in January 2023, after more than a decade’s work for Vi Agroforestry and We Effect – the world’s biggest cooperative development organisation. As a global director on advocacy and media, he initiated and led public and political global campaigns against climate change and hunger.

Lundstedt pioneered in developing “digital travels”, allowing decision-makers and other stakeholders to visit places and engage with people around the world without leaving their offices.

Marcus started his work life as a freelance journalist for Swedish radio and print media. He reported on social issues in China, South Africa, Brazil, Cambodia and India. But his first full “real job” was as the Editor in chief for his university’s student paper in Örebro, where he also founded a student tv network together with some friends.

He bridged to a role as PR consultant and accounts director at the award-winning PR firm “Agency”, where he gained deep knowledge of public relations, crisis management, corporate responsibility, advocacy and campaigning.

Lundstedt is a freelance photographer for 20 years and has been published in many of Sweden’s leading news outlets. He is the co-author of the book "Drottning av Bredfjället" (Votum förlag, 2013).

Lundstedt sits on the board of the Swedish development platform Concord and was the deputy chair for the Swedish Federation for Journalists in Forestry and Agriculture between 2017-2022.

Lundstedt lives in the coastal town of Norrtälje with his family, enjoys running, coaching kids in athletics and going sailing as often as possible.
