Lisa Di Giulio is a MSc student at the Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development programme 2023-2025.

Lisa Di Giulio is a 2nd-year MSc student at the Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development programme. Di Giulio is interested in participatory approaches to develop transformative pathways, post-growth economies, and the intersection between environmental and social justice issues. In her Master’s thesis, Di Giulio is researching collective future narratives for a contextual understanding of Biosphere Reserves, focusing on the “Appennino Tosco-Emiliano” in Italy.

Di Giulio has an Honours BSc degree in Global Sustainability Science from the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. She combined her undergraduate study with a minor in Conflict Studies from CCS Utrecht. In her education, Di Giulio focused on Governance and Societal transformations, gaining experience in topics such as Socio-economic processes, Policy evaluation and design, and Environmental Impact Assessment. In her Bachelor’s thesis, Di Giulio used a mixed methods approach to evaluate the adaptability of the network of urban food commons in Utrecht. Her Honours Research Project dealt with analyzing the different discourses on “caporalato” in the agri-food sector in Italy. Di Giulio has also completed independent courses and training in “Project management”, “Behavioural Change for Sustainable Development”, “Degrowth from a Latin American perspective” and “Gender perspectives for Sustainability”.

In 2022-2023, Di Giulio worked for a local NGO (FEPP) in Nueva Loja, Ecuador, gaining experience in project design, management and evaluation related to forest conservation, rural development, and migration.

Di Giulio has extensive volunteering experience in different contexts (Europe, Africa, South America) working with refugees and other vulnerable groups, as well as developing environmental education activities for kids.

Lisa Di Giulio is member of the Italian Post-growth platform.
