Through attending the MSc at Stockholm Resilience Center, Arvidson is exploring how her previous experience and interest in psychology can be integrated with and hopefully contribute to sustainability science.

Arvidson is a Master’s student at the Stockholm Resilience Center. She is hopeful that the Master’s program at the SRC will provide the structure, perspective and network to delve into the integration of knowledge from her previous field (psychology) with sustainability science.

Arvidson is a Red Cross Nordic United World College alumni. After completing a MSc in psychology at Uppsala University and a year-long clinical internship, Arvidson has worked as a licensed clinical psychologist for several years, both in adult and youth psychiatric services. Her main task has been neuropsychiatric assessments in children, but her role has also included support and mentorship of colleagues, collaborations with other institutions and development of the workplace’s environmental efforts. The work has required listening, writing, interviewing, relational, analytical and facilitative skills. She has also worked as a supervisor to psychology students during their three-month long internships at the psychiatric clinic. Being experienced in the administration of the gold standard intelligence test for children, she has also worked as a student supervisor at Uppsala University at a course module dedicated to intelligence assessment.

Arvidson has extensive volunteering experience in the local context, primarily within the climate mitigation sphere. She has experience from several sectors. For instance, she has worked with a small company engaged in the SME Climate Hub to utilize the company’s role model status to influence its business sector. On the policy side, she has acted as a co-coordinator for a local network of environmental NGOs that interviewed politicians and evaluated policy before the 2022 election in Sweden. From a civil society perspective, she has led emotional support meetings with a focus on eco-anxiety.

Arvidson warmly welcomes anyone with an interest in psychology and the role of psychology in sustainability science to get in touch.
