Childhood obesity is increasing world-wide, and the fastest increase rates are in low and middle-income countries. Childhood obesity is linked with many serious health complications. The situation demands strategic intervention encompassing many different sectors.
About Margaret Chan
Margaret Chan is Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). She has a medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in Canada and was Director of Health of Hong Kong before joining the WHO in 2003.
