Last week, Skansen, an open-air museum in Stockholm, launched the first part of an exhibition about biodiversity with contributions by the Stockholm Resilience Centre

Text

Aim of the exhibition is to highlight the importance and necessity of biodiversity for human life.

It is placed alongside a historic escalator inside the museum where visitors are able to see its displays while riding the escalator.

The project that has led to the exhibition is a collaboration between Stockholm Resilience Centre, Skansen, Visualiseringscenter C in Norrköping, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

From the centre, contributions were made by among others Jamila Haider, Fredrik Moberg, and Olof Olsson.

We hope that the exhibition inspires our guests to think about how human development has affected nature in different ways. We want to increase the publics involvement around these issues.

Tomas Frisk, head of zoology at Skansen

In the upcoming parts of the exhibition, visitors will gain deepened knowledge on the challenges humankind faces and how to tackle them.

The exhibition will be in place for three years and is financed by the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg foundation.
