Stockholm Resilience Centre, with the Beijer Institute and GEDB, is one of three new knowledge partners to join the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), an initiative designed to develop a risk management and disclosure framework for organisations to report and act on evolving nature-related risks.

The centre is joined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at National University of Singapore.

Adding to a group of 13 existing TNFD knowledge partners, the organisations will each bring unique and detailed expertise to the work of the TNFD.

Specifically, Stockholm Resilience Centre will bring insights on resilience, complex systems, biodiversity, finance, and business, while also providing TNFD with access to the expertise of its partners Beijer Institute and the Global Economic Dynamics and the Biosphere programme at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

At the centre of TNFD's work sits the Taskforce, a group of 34 individual taskforce members, who will deliver the nature-related risk and opportunity management and disclosure framework.

The TNFD knowledge partners provided instrumental input into the first beta version of the TNFD framework, released in March 2022, and will continue to support the Taskforce until the launch of its final recommendations in September 2023.

Funding for the TNFD is provided by governments, the UN, and philanthropic foundations, including the governments of Australia, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom; the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
