What can we expect from Stockholm+50?

We asked some of our researchers what they hope can come out of the historic UN meeting in Stockholm
- Stockholm+50 will commemorate the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action
- Stockholm Resilience Centre is involved in several activities before, during and after the official meeting
- The official venue for the meeting is Stockholmsmässan
On 2 and 3 June 2022, Stockholm is calling, this time as a host for Stockholm+50.
The meeting will commemorate the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action.
Amid turbulence and crises associated with food, energy and global security, will the meeting be able to deliver on anything?
We asked some of our researchers what they think, and what hopes they have for Stockholm+50:

Transformations must be fast and fair.” The carbon budget for 1.5°C will be exhausted in a few years. Transformation must be radical but fair or it will not be seen by citizens as legitimate. Stronger leadership from civil society organisations will ensure this."
