Alpine World Cup in Åre team up with scientists to address climate change

Climate action is crucial for the future of winter sports and the event Nordic Sustainability Arena aims to become an annual, international meeting place where different actors come together to contribute to the global climate transition. The first conference is being organized in conjunction with the Alpine World Cup in Åre.

It’s a complex issue since, like many elite athletes and world-class events, we also have an impact on the climate. Through the Nordic Sustainability Arena, we aim to deepen our knowledge, challenge ourselves, and act decisively to accelerate the climate transition," says Olle Danielsson, CEO of the Alpine World Cup in Åre.

The partnership is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the scientific framework Planetary Boundaries. With the Stockholm Resilience Centre as a research partner, the Nordic Sustainability Arena and the Alpine World Cup aim to have a robust scientific basis to tackle climate challenges.
