Centre researcher and co-founder Johan Rockström made it onto the TIME100, the TIME magazine’s annual list of the hundred most influential people in the world
Johan Rockström, who even is director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, PIK, is listed in the category “Titans” alongside among others, Elon Musk, Beyoncé, Lionel Messi, and Ozlem Tureci and Ugur Sahin, founders of the Covid-19 vaccine company Biontech.
“I'm very honoured to be part of the Time100 list. It shows that science matters, not only in scientific circles, but also beyond, in politics, in society, in the whole world,” says Johan Rockström.
TIME’s tribute specifically mentions Rockström’s pioneering contributions to the concept of planetary boundaries. His work is described as “crucial to understanding the interconnected crises facing our planet and is shaping the path forward, guiding leaders on how to turn complex science into clear, quantifiable actions.”
