Assessing real impact and the risks that arise
As shown in Chapter 5, information about where environmental impacts occur, what the nature of the operations and impact are, and how much pressure these activities put on the environment, makes a range of scientifically grounded analytical methods and tools more meaningful and available. Chapter 6 outlined a sciencebacked approach to guide the prioritization of necessary and sector-relevant environmental disclosures that aligns with existing reporting requirements. These disclosures represent key inputs into all modelling efforts aiming to reliably estimate environmental impacts, but also the risks that may arise. Building on this, Chapter 7 showcases a novel impact assessment tool that assesses the global Earth system impact of local corporate activities by using four of the suggested environmental disclosures.
