Shyam Basnet is responsible for modelling pathway scenarios within the framework of Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-use and Energy (FABLE)
At SRC, Basnet is working on the NorthWestern Path project, which aims to design the transformative pathway for a sustainable food and land use system. In the project, he is responsible for modelling pathway scenarios within the framework of Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-use and Energy (FABLE). He has developed the FABLE Tool Calculator for Sweden to visualize the potential implications of sustainable pathways in the future period until 2050.
Basnet started his university studies in agriculture science in Nepal. He specialized in agricultural and natural resource economics and developed expertise in econometric modeling and mathematical programming at Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands. He obtained his PhD in Economic Modeling of Farmer Behaviours in Structural Change, Technology Adoption and Policy Change from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala.
