Luja von Köckritz is fascinated by the possibilities of exploring the complex future through modelling social-ecological systems

Von Köckritz is looking at the navigation of transformation towards Circular Economy in her master thesis. She focuses on the improvement of modeling system transformation towards circular passenger mobility. Her aim is to extract larger dynamics in this transformation within the European Economic Area. Her research is motivated by a need for larger models to depict the impact of choices at smaller scales.

Besides her masters, von Köckritz is active in the SRC SESLINK team and supports the work on relationship-based modelling with agents in fisheries.

Von Köckritz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Global Sustainability Science from the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. She combined her undergraduate study with a minor in Complex System Science from the Centre of Complex System Studies. In her education, Luja focussed at energy and resource management. For her undergraduate thesis, Luja developed pathways for model development of the Integrated Assessment Model IMAGE for incorporating Circular Economy.

Von Köckritz observed the UN Climate Change negotiations from 2016 to 2020. She built and coordinated a youth group that aims to bring an understanding for youth perspective into the negotiations and also communicate the importance of the negotiations to German youths.
