Karlsson is a communications officer at the Stockhom Resilience Centre. Her work in communications is particularly focused on web and media production. She also coordinates and collaborates on several of the centre's large and strategic projects and have previously organized and produced various events at the centre.
Karlsson has also studied science communication at Stockholm university. She previously worked at Albaeco, a strategic environmental communication partner to Stockholm Resilience Centre, where she consulted in an urban sustainability project, among other things.
Karlsson's educational backbone is in biology and environmental science and her thesis evaluated ecosystem services framework implementation in a UNESCO MAB biosphere reserve.
