How can property rights protect public interests?
Richard Barnes from University of Hull answers this question.
Dr Richard Barnes teaches maritime, international and environmental law at the University of Hull for a number of years.

He is a member of the Society of Legal Scholars, convenor of its maritime law section and a member of its Executive Committee. He is the editor of the Current Legal Developments Section of the International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law.

He is on the Advisory Board of Current Controversies in Law, Cavendish Publishing Advisory Board and the New Zealand Yearbook of International Law.

He is also a founding member of the McCoubrey Centre for International Law and has been involved with the Council for Security and Cooperation in the Asia Pacific, and acted as its European Representative.
