Formas received about 1250 applications this year and after a thorough review process 239 of these have now been approved for funding. Regina Lindborg and Line Gordon of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Department of Systems Ecology were among the receivers.

Their project, which was one of the top-ranked recipients of this year´s Formas´ grants, looks into ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes. More specifically, it deals with the design of frameworks for finding synergies and discover trade-offs between a multitude of services.

The huge global challenge in this context is to produce enough high-quality food for a growing world population without undermining the long-term capacity of ecosystems to produce services. A total of 2 million kronor will be granted for the period 2008-2010.
