The Landscape/Seascape Lab was established to meet the increased demand of performing interdisciplinary spatial analyzes integrating ecological and socio-economic variables.

Of particular interest and importance is the possibility of integrating the spatial analytical capabilities of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) and image processing, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Spatial Statistics. See explanations under the section Technologies.

The combination of different technologies offers new possibilities to perform time series analyses and even predictions of future scenarios in rapidly changing environments, especially urban environments.

Our vision is that the Landscape/Seascape Lab will provide an environment where faculty, staff and students will work together to advance knowledge in the application of geospatial technologies and tools in ecosystem science, landscape and seascape ecology, geography, social science and natural resource management.
