Monday 14 April 2008 starts the conference "Resilience 2008 - Resilience, Adaptation and transformation in turbulent times'. Hosted by Stockholm Resilience Centre, the conference will take place in Stockholm between April 14-17 2008 and will involve some of the world´s most distinguished scientists and politicians who will discuss ecology, economy and society from a Resilience perspective.
Among the participants are scientists such as Elinor Ostrom (USA) Professor of Political Science, C.S. “Buzz" Holling (Canada) Professor in Ecological Sciences, Steve Carpenter (USA) Professor of Limnology, Carl Folke (Sweden) Professor of Natural Resources Management, Johan Rockström(Sweden) Professor of Natural Resources Management, Will Steffen (Australia) Professor of Earth System Sciences and Frances Westley (Canada) Professor of Strategy and Management.
The aim of the Resilience Conference is to establish a corner stone of understanding of the interconnected social and ecological systems and present recommendations for policymakers in business and politics.
Live web coverage
The conference will be using advanced web television interface to air more than 45 events live over a four-day period. There will also be some 20 events provided on demand. All events will be broadcasted on this website. See complete schedule here.
Resilience art exhibition
Together with the conference, a unique art exhibition will also be opened. Located at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, the exhibition "Changing Matters" will present works of art related to resilience thinking. The exhibition will take place between April 12 and September 7 2008.
The Resilience Art Exhibition is a joint project of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, through Mejan Labs in Stockholm and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences through the Beijer Institute and the Stockholm Resilience Centre, in collaboration with the Resilience Alliance.
