ProEnviro invests in another environment project
The Board of the research programme ProEnviro has decided to finance another project, focusing on environmentally-adapted product development.
A total of eight projects are now financed. The research programme ProEnviro, financed through 2009, is a collaborative effort of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research (Mistra) and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).
The most recently financed project:
Infinigear AB in Stockholm has been granted 1.56 million Swedish Crowns for a first one-year phase. Infinigear will collaborate with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) to develop a new technology – Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) – for heavy vehicles. The project is divided into two phases, of which the first involves design simulation and virtual verification of design performance. This is a high-risk project, but the potential benefits to society are expected to be great if the project succeeds. A prototype will be built in the second phase.

From a total of 29 applications from small and medium-sized companies, eight have been selected for financing. The proposals have been evaluated by both scientific and industrial advisory panels. Scientific quality and innovative thinking were important criteria. Improved environmental performance and industrial relevance were in focus for the strategic and commercial evaluation. All of the projects involve collaboration between industry and academia.
