PhD student at Foreign Ministry
A postgraduate student will now be able to spend a year at Sweden´s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, thanks to a Mistra programme.
The Mistra Board has decided to fund a PhD exchange position in the framework of the programme ENTWINED - Environment and Trade in a World of Interdependence. The aim is to develop collaboration and strengthen the interface between research and practice in the field of international trade. The decision makes available SEK 3 million to fund one person for a one-year exchange placement at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and four years of postgraduate research training. The more specific details of the position will be decided by the programme board in dialogue with the Ministry.“This is an excellent way of building research skills and capability, for the student, for his or her institution, and for ENTWINED. It will give us a PhD student who is able to follow the day-to-day work of the Foreign Ministry full-time, with support from an academic institution. The position will also be a good way of making sure our research and the results flowing from it are relevant to end-users," says Mark Sanctuary, programme director of ENTWINED.
