Requirements
Entry requirements for the EGG programme are a relevant Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent as well as a documented good command of English.
Entrance requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree, or the equivalent, in a discipline related to the programme from an accredited university in the country in which the degree has been awarded.

- A good command of English, documented by an internationally recognized proficiency test (see below under Documents required).

Proficiency tests in English are NOT required if English has been your first foreign language at upper secondary school in:
Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Cyprus or Sweden

or if English has been the language of instruction throughout your upper secondary or university education.
 
Statement of Motivation and Research Ideas
ALL applicants must complete their application with the following:

1) Statement of Motivation — where you explain why you have selected this
programme and why you should be selected to be a part of the EGG programme
(max 250 words)

2) Research Ideas — where you present your ideas for your Master´s thesis
(max 250 words)
 
Documents required
- University transcripts sent directly from the university to the department.

- English Proficiency: Certification by an internationally recognised proficiency test such as:

the American TOEFL test (the Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a final result of no less than 550 or 213 (new scale) points;

the British IELTS test (the International English Language Testing Service) with an overall band of 6.0 but no individual score below 5.0; the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English or Certificate of Proficiency;

"Engelska B" at Swedish upper secondary school. For information regarding time and place for the proficiency tests in English, please contact the British or American Embassy/Consulate in your country.

Note: Test results must be sent directly from the test centre to the Department of Biology Education at Stockholm University, and must have reached us by March 1 or April 15 respectively (TOEFL code number for Stockholm University: 0008).

Or Certified copies of documentation of upper secondary education (diplomas, transcripts, grade reports, etc.) stamped and signed by the issuing educational institution, or a Notary Public, in the original language if English has been your first foreign language at upper secondary school in Germany (former FRG), Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Cyprus or Sweden OR if English has been the language of instruction throughout your upper secondary or university education.
 
Note:
- If the documents are issued in any other language than Swedish, English, French, Spanish or German, authorised translations (officially certified) are required.

- Fax copies or emails are not accepted.

- Applications without complete and correct documentation will not be processed

Residence permit
Students from many countries, especially outside Europe, need to apply for a visa/residence permit for studies before entering Sweden. Further information and application forms regarding visa/residence permit may be obtained from the Swedish Embassy or Consulate in your home country or from the Swedish Migration Board.

Nordic citizens do not require visa or residence permit.
 
When you receive a letter of admission fromStockholm University you will also receive information about how to apply for a residence permit for studies in Sweden.

New! Foreign students can now apply for permits online from the Swedish Migration Board.
 
One of the conditions for being granted a residence permit for studies in Sweden, is a proof of sufficient funds to cover all living expenses during your entire stay in Sweden. It can be personal funds, scholarships or proof of sponsorship. The sum required at present is 7300 SEK per month, for at least ten months of the year.
