I currently work as Counsellor at the Sri Lanka Embassy, Rome. I had a similar position in Stockholm before NGG. Other than administration, education and culture I also handle UN Agencies in Rome which include FAO, WFP and IFAD. In these multilateral agencies I can really use some of the knowledge I gained during the course and grasp the links between fighting desertification and degradation of land, eradicating of hunger in the world, the role of plant and animal genetic resources for world´s food security, farmers rights and protecting sustainable traditional agricultural systems, and policies for responsible fisheries and forestry management.
Further, the course also helped me to understand different concerns of different countries better. The emphasis the course made on trans-disciplinary aspects was also something which I found quite relevant to the present times.
I also received immense support from my fellow students from the course, and particularly staff of CTM when tsunami hit Sri Lanka; been volunteers, finding contacts, getting donations etc. in addition to all the moral support I received. I would always treasure that memory of the support extended.
