National Geographic photographer joins the centre
World known photographer and film maker Mattias Klum becomes senior fellow.
The National Geographic photographer and filmmaker Mattias Klum has joined Stockholm Resilience Centre as a senior fellow on 10 percent of a full-time position. In his role, Klum will contribute to the centre's Master's programme as well as other centre activities.

"During his career as photographer and filmmaker Mattias Klum has studied and described some of the most species-rich ecosystems on earth, the people living there, and ways to accomplish sustainable ecosystem management and development. His captivating pictures and extensive field experience will add value to our research, education and communication," centre director Johan Rockström says.

Honoured
“I am honoured by this assignment at the centre and Stockholm University in a project that is scientific as well as artistic, and national as well as international," Mattias Klum says.

“As a photographer and filmmaker I want to combine empiricism and emotion and thereby bridge the gap between what we know and how we act. To make people act by moving them emotionally may enable important steps towards a better and sustainable world," Klum adds.
