Master in ecosystems, governance and globalisation
Take a 2-year Master's degree on the complex interactions between ecosystems and human activities. Deadline for applications are April 15th for Swedish and EU applicants.
- In a globalised world, ecosystem management in one country affects another. We are inspired by The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment which emphasises the dependence of human welfare on well-functioning ecosystem services, says Programme Director Miriam Huitric.

The Master programme Ecosystems, Governance and Globalisation (EGG) is one of two Master studies at Stockholm Resilience Centre. It aims to enhance the students knowledge of the complex interactions between ecosystem dynamics and human activities.

- Globalisation means that ecosystem management is affected by drivers (social, economic, ecological) at various scales (local to global). Adaptation and governance at different scales are, therefore, crucial for our understanding of resilience in social-ecological systems, Huitric says.

In the EGG programme, students are introduced to different research approaches and methods for studying coupled social and ecological systems.

Application deadlines
The programme begins August 2009. Application forms are available at studera.nu. Deadlines for applications are: 1 February 2009  for foreign students requiring a visa and 15 April 2009 for Swedish and EU applicants.
