Having Portugal and Sweden as study cases she investigates if agricultural landscapes are resilient enough to allow the regeneration of abandoned lands into habitats that enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services. This includes the assessment of sources an mechanisms of resilience as well as to investigate management practices that can improve the resilience of abandoned lands.
Another focus of her research will be a critical analysis of regional agricultural policies and drivers and their effectiveness in enhancing the capacity of local social-ecological systems to manage for resilience in different contexts in Europe.
