Åsa G Swartling is joint theme leader of Knowledge management, learning and social networks in social-ecological systems. She specialises in participatory approaches to environmental policy and management and policy analysis. She has been employed at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) since 1994, where she holds a Research Fellow position within the Policy & Institutions Programme.
Over the years, she has been involved in research projects dealing with stakeholder engagement, public-expert interface, learning, sustainability assessments, project evaluation and policy integration, particularly in the areas of energy and climate change.
Åsa´s research interests and experience include both developing and developed world contexts, although in recent years her work has focused on the Swedish and European environmental policy contexts.
Åsa holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of York, UK.
