Henrik is engaged in three research themes at the Stockholm Resilience Centre: Urban social-ecological systems
Regime shifts, scales and sources of reorganisation in social-ecological systems and
Knowledge management, learning and social networks in social-ecological systems.
In the most general sense, Henrik is pursuing an understanding of (i) cities from a social-ecologial perspective, and (ii) transformational change.
In his studies he has used social network analysis and actor-network-theory to increase understanding how urban social movements can influence the protection and management of urban green areas, and become agents in transformational change that ascribe higher values to urban ecosystems.
Merging this social analysis with landscape ecology he is interested in increasing the understanding of transformational change and developing the resilience theory for better systemic understanding of cities´ dependence on ecosystem services, while at the same time not avoiding critical perspectives on issues of equality.
He holds an MSc in Physics and Electrical Engineering and also works as project manager and theatre producer.
